Do you know why the people of Manresa were able to build the sèquia (irrigation canal)? Discover the “legendary” answer in the Light Festival, and enjoy art and creativity in the Gardens of Light festival.
Legend has it that on the 21 February 1345, a strange light was seen coming from Montserrat which entered the Church of El Carme, at which point the bells began to ring. Thanks to this miracle, the people of Manresa were able to build the sèquia (irrigation canal) and alleviate the devastating effects of the drought. Since then, Manresa has commemorated this miracle with the Light Festival.
The Gardens of Light Festival, held in the historical centre, is a route that gives visitors the chance to stroll around and enjoy a series of artistic creations featuring light and water.
