Tres Tombs (Three Laps) Festival in Vilanova
There’s only one day of the year when there are more animals than people in the streets of Vilanova: on the day of the Tres Tombs (Three Laps) Festival.
Farmers’ carriages and carts, bedecked in all sorts of finery and pulled by horses, mules and donkeys, converge on the city of Vilanova i la Geltrú to celebrate the Tres Tombs (Three Laps) Festival. In keeping with tradition, they complete three laps around the church in an anticlockwise direction. If you go to see the procession, don’t leave without sampling the traditional Tortell de Sant Antoni, a ring-shaped marzipan-based cake made especially for the occasion. It has an animal figurine hidden inside it.
