From Font Bona de Sant Marçal, in the heart of Montseny Nature Park, to Blanes or Malgrat de Mar, already in the Mediterranean Sea, the Tordera River and the Riera d'Arbúcies flow through forests, meadows, reedbeds, towns and villages, hence making a journey you can now also experience in many ways thanks to the Tourdera initiative.

The Tordera and Riera d'Arbúcies Route (the Tourdera) is a signposted tour of about 70 kilometres and with an elevation gain of 1,800 meters. If you look at the distances, you might think that this is a very long route, but do not worry, because it is divided into sections of low, intermediate or more demanding difficulty, so you can decide what to do depending on your desire, time and preparation.

It is therefore a perfect route for walking or cycling. In fact, if you like the latter idea, but don't have your own bike, you have many options for renting one, depending on the section where you want to spend the day. In some of the towns along the route, such as Blanes, Malgrat de Mar, Palafolls, Tordera, Arbúcies, Sant Celoni or Sant Esteve de Palautordera, you will find several shops where you can rent a bike and enjoy a day that is sure to go smoothly!

In addition, the route features many connection options with public transport, which you can find on the Tourdera website. Thus, you can do many sections of the route without taking the car, which is a much more economical and sustainable way to enjoy the route.

What is more, if you feel like spending a weekend fully immersed in the Tourdera or want to spend a few days enjoying the route, you have several accommodation options along the way. Some of them, such as the Aqua Hotel Silhouette & Spa, the Hotel Alegria Maripins and the Sumus Hotel Monteplaya, apart from being ideal for relaxing after an active day, are also environmentally-friendly options and therefore feature the Biosphere label. If you are still unsure, take a look at their offer and facilities to finally be convinced!

In short, this is a perfect tour to do with friends, family or on your own. Along the way, you will not only be able to wonder at the incredible natural landscapes that surround Tordera, from the Costa Brava to Montseny, but you will also discover the impressive cultural and social heritage that has been forged around this river over a distance of almost 62 kilometres.
